The Next Big Thing

The rules for her accepting me in this great event are to answer the interview questions below and pass the torch on to other deserving authors.

So here are My Ten Interview Questions for the Next Big Thing:

What is your working title of your book (or story)? Carolina Wine Country Cooking, Vol II

Where did the idea come from for the book? My publisher has asked for a series.  Yay!  Thankfully there are many wineries and great vintners to work with across the state.  I will have a fertile field of research areas for this and the remaining books to come. 

What genre does your book fall under? Non-fiction/Cooking/Travel/Wine & Food Tourism

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition? This next book will include more than just recipes, and a story or two is likely to pop up.  I have a couple of actors in mind for one of the stories I am developing.  Jennifer Aniston and Joaquin Phoenix would do nicely as to very unlikely to find exactly what they need in each other.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?   “Ginger King once again offers up a delightful feast of recipes for those who love cuisine and North Carolina wines with the second in her Carolina Wine Country series.  King seems to know the way to our hearts and souls, and makes the journey delicious by seasoning with stories, vintner interviews, photography, and poetry along the way.  All inspired by the Carolina Vines of course! “

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? Published by Second Wind Publishing

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? Folks ask me this all the time, and the answer truly is “I don’t know” because it was only an extensive form of journaling when I met my publisher.  I am about to find out how long the second book will take.  I begin work on it in a few weeks.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?  We haven’t found anything like my book on the market.  I definitely would have purchased it though, because I love NC wine and food.  If I compare it to something, hopefully it comes close to an informal version of say Wine Country Cooking by Joanne Weir or The Wine Lover’s Cookbook: Great Recipes for the Perfect Glass of Wine by Sid Goldstein, Paul Franz-Moore and John Ash, although these focus on pairings.  My book focuses on using the wines in cooking.  Also those are counter style cookbooks, and Carolina Wine Country Cooking is meant to be a companion on the road, visiting wineries in the Carolinas and then to be used at home with the wines found along the way.

Who or what inspired you to write this book? I was inspired by my love of the experiences that food and travel extend to our lives.  Sharing my recipes with others is one way to spread that love.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?  There will be more than just recipes in the next volume.  I will be including short stories, interviews, special photography and poetry intertwined in these beautiful Carolina Vines.

And you’ve piqued my interest with your second volume as well as the fiction where you mentioned Jennifer Aniston and Joaquin Phoenix! VERY interesting! 🙂
